Hi all, welcome to this month’s Presidents message.
In April we had a club run to April Maxwell’s home in Greenbank where we had arranged Bruce Garrett to photograph members cars for the new calendar. Attendance was down a little but those who did venture out on a perfect day enjoyed a BBQ and a friendly gathering of like-minded Chrysler enthusiasts. We now have some photographs for this year’s calendar which will be printed from July 2025 and run for 24 months. We are just finalising the 24 photo’s required so if you want your car in there get the image to me pronto.
The May club run was to Stanthorpe for the weekend from Saturday May 24th. 19 people made the journey and had a great time visiting the local attractions. Our accommodation was at Sommerville Valley Tourist Park located just outside Stanthorpe in a very picturesque setting, albeit a cold one this time of year! The weekends away are very popular and we should plan to have more throughout the year, watch this space.
The RACQ Motorfest will be upon us as you read this. I thank the many people involved in the planning and setup of our Chrysler 100 Years display (you know who you are) which I’m sure will be the highlight of the Motorfest event. There were more than 65 Chrysler vehicles registered to attend covering a broad sample of vehicles from that period. I hope to see many members at the show regardless of whether they have their own vehicle there or not. It will be a truly memorable experience for all.
Expo planning is coming along and one decision made this year was to revert to the food being supplied by the Ekibin Lions club alongside a few food vans who attended in 2024. We hope this solution gives a broad selection of quality food for all to enjoy. We always welcome input from members for the Expo event so do try to come along to the monthly Expo meeting (Expo from 6.30pm and regular monthly meeting from 7.30pm) on the 3rd Wednesday of the month so your voice can be heard!
An important item that you will want to be aware of is that we are considering a change to our constitution. The change covers how a member can be nominated as a life member. The previous wording was very restrictive and made it difficult for a member to be nominated discretely. We hope the proposed change improves the situation. Please read the proposed amendment later in this magazine issue and contact myself or our Secretary Dave Sutton if you have any comments or queries.
Also check the upcoming events for our club, there are heaps of activities to partake in, get out there, enjoy yourself and the company of others as well as your Chrysler vehicles, cheers.
Greg Holburt COCQ Club President.
