President’s Message August – September 2025

Hi all, welcome to this month’s Presidents message.

RACQ Motorfest was held on the 15th of June and what a great event it was. We celebrated “100 years of Chrysler” having a display of over 60 cars and trucks in Building 8 of the RNA Showgrounds. The foot traffic was constant all day long while many took the opportunity to get their photo with a life-size image of Walter P. Chrysler that graced our display area. The Motorfest is a great day out with the main oval packed with vehicles, merchandise, various displays and plenty of food and drink outlets. The event is carefully planned and the arrival and departure procedures were very streamlined and effective. See pictures and further comment later in this edition.

Our July club run was to Mopar Sunday at Willowbank. Stephen Lappin and I got there early to meet all attendees and hand out flyers for the upcoming Chrysler Expo. Over 300 flyers were distributed to Chrysler fans at the entry gates. Attendance seem a little down initially presumably due to the inclement weather the night before. However by 11am the place was packed on a glorious sunny but cool morning. The drag racing was held off until 11am due to the track being wet.

On August 24th we are holding President’s Day at our Carindale club room. The day begins at 10am with a car boot sale of Chrysler parts and spares followed by a BBQ lunch and refreshments. Please do come along and follow my lead, I will start getting rid of those spares I am still holding that may never be used. It would be nice to clear a few shelves in the sheds!

Expo will be about 6 weeks away when you read this. Our Expo team is fully immersed in planning to make the day a success. We will continue with the “100 years of Chrysler” theme using much of the signage and merchandise we used at RACQ Motorfest, it should be something special.

Following on from Expo will be our Annual General Meeting. This will be held at the Tingalpa Hotel on Wednesday September 17th. We will provide a meal for all club members attending from 6pm and the meeting will begin at 7.30pm. Documents pertaining to the AGM are available on our website under the “Information” tab titled AGM 2025. This includes our agenda, proposed change to the constitution, proxy voting forms and nomination forms to become a member of our committee. Please consider helping on the committee, it’s not hard, it can be a lot of fun and we would love some ‘new blood’ on the team!

Coming up on September 27th is Mopar Mayhem at Lakeside Park Kurwongbah from 11am. We have a contingent of members looking to go this year and I personally have paid a few dollars to drive around the track in a cruise event, should be fun!

Stay safe and enjoy your Chrysler folks, cheers for now.

Greg Holburt COCQ Club President.
