President’s Message – October 2023

Hi all, welcome to this month’s Presidents message.

September as always was a big month! 2023 Expo was a great success with more cars on field this year than we have seen for a while, we estimate between 250 and 300 display vehicles alone.

Supporting the Expo in fine style was a strong contingent of trade stands, exhibition displays and food and drink outlets to entertain and serve the crowd. A special thanks goes out to our 4 major sponsons being PlumKrazy Garage, the ASMF, Shannons and Penrite.

The event is very difficult to run without your continued support and we trust the day was fruitful for you all.

We also thank the Lions Club of Ekibin for providing our primary food tent this year with proceeds going to the Ekibin Scouts Group.

The local club displays including Queensland Chrysler Association, the Gold Coast/Tweed Chrysler Club, the R & S Valiant Club all came along with strong numbers and a great variety of vehicles. We also had the Jeep Club and the Rambler Club adding to the mix.

Next year we intend to reach out to more clubs to join our event, any club with a Chrysler flavour will be on our radar!

We awarded 25 trophy’s to vehicles and their owners with the support of the ASMF who undertook our judging with meticulous diligence and detail. On a special note, we will also awarded the inaugural Mick Maxwell Memorial Award in honour of our great friend and club member Mick Maxwell who passed away recently after a brief illness. This special award was judged by Mick’s family and the winner was Roy Schlussler with his VH770 Charger, a magnificent vehicle that Roy has owned from brand new. Congratulations Roy!

There is also a perpetual plaque which will held by the Maxwell family to which the winner’s name will be added each year.

The Annual General Meeting was held at the Tingalpa Hotel and our Management Committee and supporting Committee were elected for the 2023/24 year, special thanks to Graham McLean for officiating in style! Thanks and congratulations to all members who are giving their time and effort on the Committee to help us run the wonderful club. See the full list of committee members on the following pages.

We have a club run in October planned for a trip to Tamborine Mountain, full details on that event are included in the club run section on page 5 of the newsletter. In November we hold the club Christmas Party which this year will be held at the Oxley Golf Club on the 26 th of November from 11am. To secure your seat please pay $20.00 per head pronto which is fully refunded to you on the day.

Enjoy your rides people, look forward to seeing you all real soon, cheers for now.
