Hi all, welcome to this month’s Presidents message.
I trust everyone had a safe, happy and prosperous festive season enjoying family, friends and of course your Chrysler! As we usher in the new year we start to plan for the upcoming events. As usual we will schedule club runs for each month and hold our 35th Expo in September 2025. Of significance this year is that it is 100 years since Walter P. Chrysler launched the Chrysler company in 1925. We are working closely with the RACQ Motorfest people, who have asked us to help with a special 100 years of Chryslers feature for the event. We will engage all of the local clubs and other regional Chrysler clubs in NSW and QLD to participate. We will be looking to display vehicles built over the entire 100 year period so a call out to every owner of rarer models, let us know if you can assist with the display.
Our first run for the year will be to the Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club (BVRC) event in Ormiston held on January 26th, Australia Day. What a great way to celebrate our national day! We like to assist BVRC with many of our people volunteering on this day as they always offer their help with our Expo event. Good people helping other good people.
February’s run will be held on the 23rd of February to the Alexandra Hills Hotel for lunch after we spend the morning playing mini golf at the local putt-putt. Newsletter. We will email club members with the specifics of the day. March will see us return to Colmslie Park on Sunday the 16th for a barbeque lunch which will incorporate our monthly club meeting. The regular meeting on the third Wednesday will therefore not be held at the clubrooms. This is a great barbeque venue situated on the Brisbane River and always attracts a strong gathering, come along and don’t miss out!
In April we hope to visit Brian and Wendy Palmer’s home for a barbeque lunch (to be confirmed). We also plan to photograph members’ cars for this years calendar which will be printed from July 2025 and probably run for 18 months. Members who can’t make the photo shoot may submit photos of their cars to the Newsletter Editor for inclusion in the calendar, space permitting.
We are planning a weekend away club run for May which may be to Stanthorpe area. This incorporates a decent run to an area with many attractions for the club members and partners alike not solely focussed on cars. (We may have to slip Mario Sorbello a couple of Valium to get him to drive a Chrysler through Cunningham’s Gap following his experiences from early 2024!). That aside, the wineries of the region and a host of local attractions will make a great weekend for sure. Stay tuned as the event details are sorted.
Given that it’s January it’s time to do the annual oil and filter changes on my Chryslers so that’s all from me, cheers.
Greg Holburt COCQ Club President.
